A
Alvéola-branca (Motacilla alba) é uma
ave que reconhecemos imediatamente pelas suas cores (preto-e-branco) e pelo seu
característico abanar de cauda.
Há
várias subespécies. Em Portugal encontramos duas, a M.a. alba (a da fotografia) que no macho as costas são cinzentas
e com mais branco, enquanto na M.a. yarrelli
o macho tem mais preto com as costas também pretas. A subespécie M.a. alba está presente todo o ano, mas
é reforçada com indivíduos invernantes como a
M.a. yarrelli que aparece no Outono e no Inverno. O comprimento desta ave é
18 cm com uma envergadura de 25 a 30 cm.
Alimenta-se
no chão, nos telhados e rochas, correndo de um lado para o outro procurando insectos,
moluscos e sementes. O seu habitat é perto da água, nas ruas e telhados.
The white wagtail or Pied wagtail (Motacilla alba) is a bird that we recognize immediately by their colors (black and white) and its characteristic tail wagging.
There are several
subspecies. In Portugal we found two, M.a.
alba (the photography) that the male back are gray and whiter, while in Ma
yarrelli the male has more black on the back also black. The subspecies M.a. alba is present all year, but is
enhanced with individuals wintering as M.a.
yarrelli appearing in autumn and winter. The length of the bird is 18 cm
with a wingspan of 25 to 30 cm.
It feeds on the
ground, on roofs and rocks, running from one side to the other looking for
insects, snails and seeds. Its
habitat is near water, streets and roofs.
